How Long Do Mammogram Results Take?
On average, the wait time for mammogram results may take up to 10 days. If you noticed a lump during a breast self-exam or have general concerns about your breast health, the wait time can feel like years.
However, with same-day results, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your results are normal or, if needed, plans for further testing or treatment are already underway.
Who Interprets the Results of a Mammogram?
At The Breast Center of Maple Grove, our board certified diagnostic radiologists read and interpret the results the same day from Minneapolis Radiology.
How Can I Access My Results?
Mammogram results are sent to your healthcare provider who will then contact you to discuss results. In some cases, your report will arrive in an online patient portal you have access to via your provider.
We will also mail you a letter with your results.
The results will indicate any abnormalities or detect any areas of concern in the breast tissue. Additionally, in the state of Minnesota, the law requires providers to notify patients of their breast density status following a routine mammogram.
What If My Results Show Abnormalities?
If your mammogram results show abnormalities, remember to stay calm. Mammogram callbacks are more common than you think, and almost 90% of them turn out to be nothing.
